Shoreline monitoring toolbox webinar

Re-posted from the Habitat Strategic Initiative blog:

Please join the Habitat Strategic Initiative for a webinar on Thursday, February 13th at 12pm

Join the [pugetsoundestuary.wa.gov]Habitat Strategic Initiative for a webinar highlighting the results of one of our investments that is advancing progress on the Shoreline Armoring Implementation Strategy, Shoreline Monitoring Toolbox Protocol Implementation and Data Management (NTA 2016-0119).

The Shoreline Monitoring Database: bringing data together to inform shoreline restoration in the Salish Sea

The Shoreline Monitoring Database (shoremonitoring.org) was developed starting in 2018, and now includes data management capability for four protocols featured in the Shoreline Monitoring Toolbox – beach wrack, insects, logs and riparian vegetation. The database allows for data from different academic research groups, agencies and citizen science groups, and from different monitoring sites and projects, to come together to inform the effectiveness of shoreline restoration as well as explore status and trends. Data can be uploaded into a master database that combines multiple datasets, to ensure data longevity and data compatibility across groups. Data can also be downloaded, and a map displays locations of data collection to aid in user engagement. During the presentation, we will provide an overview of the database, and a discussion of plans for future analyses, data visualizations, and incorporation of additional protocols and older datasets. To learn more about this project, visit the project factsheet.
