Tanya Roberts is PSI’s newest research scientist, and comes to us from the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Environmental Assessment Program. While with Ecology (2005–2012; 2016–2017), Tanya worked with teams monitoring natural resources throughout the state, assessing groundwater, forest streams, and toxics, as well as serving as a data coordinator for a variety of Ecology programs.

Her last several projects focused on Puget Sound, which led her to PSI where she will continue to support the ongoing Puget Sound recovery efforts funded through the National Estuary Program. Her initial work at PSI will include synthesizing and writing components of the Implementation Strategies for the BIBI and Marine Water Quality Vital Signs as developed under the Puget Sound Action Agenda. Additionally, Tanya will compile a synthesis of previous recovery actions funded by the National Estuary Program in the Puget Sound region.

A Tacoma native, Tanya says she is thrilled to be back in the (slightly-less) Gritty City. In addition to holding a vision for a brighter, greener tomorrow for all species, Tanya loves learning, writing, traveling, coffee, and yoga. She lives mainly in Ocean Shores, with her cat and husband, where you might find her walking the beach, teaching yoga, or exploring watercolors.

She holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Washington Tacoma.
