Col. Anthony Wright, retired Army Corps of Engineers district engineer, was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire in July to lead the Puget Sound Partnership.The Partnership is the backbone organization that coordinates the efforts of citizens, governments, tribes, scientists and businesses to set priorities, implement a regional recovery plan and ensure accountability for results.

Wright is currently on leave as vice president at Normandeau Associates, a consulting firm specializing in environmental issues. He previously served as the commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Seattle District, where he oversaw more than $2 billion in construction projects, including ecosystem restoration, dredging and levees. In that position, he led the development of interim measures to restore the flood storage capacity of Howard Hanson Dam in King County’s Green River Valley.

Wright has more than 25 years of engineering, management and regulatory experience with assignments throughout the United States and abroad, including Fort Irwin, Calif., Fort Lewis, Wash., Fort Riley, Kan., Washington, D.C., several assignments to Germany, and three tours of duty in Iraq.
