Course Description:
This seminar course introduces the engineering concepts used in designing and constructing infrastructure in ports and coastal environments and provides an overview of the unique techniques and challenges of coastal infrastructure for each CEE discipline.


Learning Objectives:
At the completion of the course students will understand the specialized techniques used by a wide range of engineering disciplines to design and construct port and marine Infrastructure projects.


Course Format:
This 2-hour weekly course will be taught by practicing professionals. The first part of each class will present an overview of unique engineering approaches used in coastal infrastructure AND how standard or typical design techniques are applied to these coastal environments. The second part of each class will present a case study on how these techniques are applied in practice.


Each session is open to all UW Tacoma students, faculty and staff and the public. While prior registration is not required, names of non-registered participants will be recorded.
